Crisp Open Faced Meatball Sub Sandwich
If you like your meatball sandwich crisp, this is the recipe for you. First, cut a your desired size of French bread. We use fresh French bread from the Publix bakery. Slice the French bread in half. Tunnel out some of the soft portion of the bread. Don't take all of it put do make it like a trench where the meatballs will go. Next, simply place the meatballs inside the French bread, you can cut the meatballs in half if you so desire.
Next place a slice of mozzarella cheese to cover the meatballs. The only red sauce you are using at this point is what is on the meatballs when you take them out of the container you stored them in over night. We always have spaghetti and meatballs one night and then the next night, we have meatball sandwiches. Our recipe for spaghetti and meatballs can be found here on our You Tube channel.

Place the French bread, meatballs and cheese on some tin foil and then place it on a cooking sheet or baking dish of some kind. I use a little metal roasting pan that my aunt gave me years ago. I cannot tell you how many times we have used this small kitchen device to cook or bake. They are wonderful and a picture of what I'm talking about is above.
Place the meatball subs in a 350 degree oven and cook it until it looks like this:
Now just dip your sandwich in the hot leftover spaghetti sauce and enjoy. Next time I'm probably going to add some mushrooms.
